Scope

The Skin Forum represents scientists from a diverse range of disciplines who share a common interest in the physicochemical and biological properties of human skin. The Forum originally evolved from an EPSRC Life Sciences Interface Network, the primary aim of which was to promote a multidisciplinary approach for investigating skin structure, function and interactions with xenobiotics.

Aims

The Forum conducts formal one-day meetings and informal discussion groups to debate current and future research in areas such as:

Skin permeability
Biophysical techniques for examining the structure & function of skin
Bioavailability and bioequivalence issues
Dermal, transdermal drug design & QSAR
In vitro drug release from dermal & transdermal products
In vitro - in vivo correlations
Alternative models
Non-invasive drug monitoring

The annual Skin Forum meeting brings together internationally recognized experts to discuss such topics and provides an opportunity for research students to meet opinion leaders in a relaxed and informal manner.
