How to get funded

A one-day meeting on how to raise funds (what funding opportunities to target, how to write grant applications and how to build industrial links)

This meeting is aimed at young researchers who want information and tips on ‘how to get funded’. This one-day seminar includes presentations from funding bodies (Research Councils and Charities), successful academics and will include tips on how to establish collaborations with industry. This meeting will be particularly helpful for new academics (less than 5 years in their first academic position) and postdoctoral researchers and industrialist scientists.

Funding bodies that will be presenting include the following:
• Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
• Wellcome Trust
• European Research Council (ERC)

There will be ample opportunity ask questions during a Q&A panel session with all the presenters. During the afternoon there will be a session entitled “Tips on grant writing” at which you will hear from a cases studies and experiences from both young and experienced academics. Following this there will be a session with a speaker from Pfizer who will present the industrial perspective.
