Materials Science & Biopharmaceutics Joint Meeting
Characterising Bioperformance of small molecules – new tools and technologies

21st - 22nd May 2009, Burleigh Court, Loughborough University, Loughborough, UK

Why you should attend

Rapid and reproducible absorption is critical for effective delivery of pharmaceutical compounds. However, due to an increase in the number of poorly soluble compounds in development in recent years, delivery of compounds to the body has proved increasingly challenging and there now exists several technologies that produce changes in the material properties to help improve bioperformance. This 2-day symposium will provide information on state of the art understanding from world experts in the area of materials science and bioperformance and provide details of when the different technologies can be applied and the likelihood of success. The meeting will focus on how bioperformance can be assessed and a number of case studies will be available to show how challenges have been overcome and how material properties (e.g. salts, co-crystals, amorphous materials) and formulation processes can influence this performance.
